Minister praises Banbury and Bicester Job Clubs

20 July 2010

Employment Minister Chris Grayling has said that the Government is looking at the experience of the Banbury and Bicester Job Clubs to see how Work Clubs can be developed throughout the country in areas affected by unemployment.

North Oxfordshire MP Tony Baldry has made it clear that the Banbury and Bicester Job Clubs are willing to support any Job Club or Work Club anywhere in the country that is wanting to get going.

“I am glad that Ministers recognise that the Banbury and Bicester Job Clubs have been something of a pathfinder”, said Tony Baldry. “a lot of people locally have put in a lot of hard work into making the Job Clubs work and I think they have been of real benefit in ensuring that we as a community give help to those who are out of work whilst they are out of work, and get them back into the world of work as quickly as possible. It has been good seeing the unemployment figures locally go down over recent months. I hope that in due course we will see a network of Work Clubs across the country”.
